Functional Integrative Acupuncture

“The FIN (Functional Integrative Needling) approach integrates a variety of dry needling techniques during a single session. Unlike acupuncture which traditionally selects points along meridians, dry needling targets anatomical structures that are the underlying cause of musculoskeletal conditions. The benefits are decreased pain, decreased muscle tension, and improved function.

During a typical FIN treatment, thin filament needles are inserted into various targets that have been determined to be the underlying cause of the painful condition. They are left in from several seconds to 20 minutes. Typically there will be 10 or more needles used for most conditions [and they will be used with or without electrical stimulation]. Different strategies are used for acute injuries and chronic pain conditions that make this a highly effective treatment modality for soft tissue injuries.”

Soft Tissue Techniques (STT) & Joint Mobilization/Manipulation

STT is often described as massage style treatment or care. The STT and joint mobilization techniques that Dr. Jess uses vary from gentle joint work, to deep muscle, ligament and tendon techniques. Instrument assisted soft tissue techniques are also a common tool of Dr. Coady’s; she uses tools like Graston® Instruments and other devices to better treat and manage soft tissue and joint injuries.

The purpose and intent of any soft tissue and joint technique verys, but the goals are often directed towards improved range of motion, decreased pain and desensitization for improved function and performance.

Rehab, Exercise Prescription and Functional Movement

Chiropractors are clinicians and specialists of human movement; it is one of, if not, the most important part of every care plan. Exercise and rehabilitation are a part of every treatment with Dr. Jess and a keystone in developing long term physical and mental health. From fall prevention to proper breathing techniques & postpartum care to return to sport programming; exercise, rehab and movement are not only important for your overall health but are a vital component to your pain, recovery and reconditioning
